چکیده
During the past decade there have been remarkable achievements in the immunopathogenesis of the inflammatory myopathies that laid the grounds for more eVective therapeutic interventions. This editorial summarises where we stand today in our understanding of these disorders and their treatment, identifies key biological issues that need further study, and considers possibilities of applying new and more specific therapeutic interventions.

Autoantibodies in canine masticatory muscle myositis recognize a novel myosin binding protein-C family member.
Inflammatory myopathies are a group of autoimmune diseases that affect muscles. In humans, the most common inflammatory myopathies are polymyositis, dermatomyositis, and inclusion body myositis. Autoantibodies may be found in humans with inflammatory myopathies, and these play an important role in diagnosis and disease classification. However, these Abs are typically not muscle specific. Sponta...
متن کاملCurrent pharmacological treatment of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies.
The idiopathic inflammatory myopathies are uncommon and heterogeneous disorders. Their classification is based on distinct clinicopathologic features. Although idiopathic inflammatory myopathies share some similarities, different subtypes may have variable responses to therapy, so it is very important to distinguish the correct subtype. There are few randomised, double blind placebo controlled ...

PURPOSE OF REVIEW This update on childhood idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) reviews recent progress in the field of translational science and clinical research over the past 12-18 months. RECENT FINDINGS Several new studies, including results from the international genome-wide association study, point to abnormalities of the adaptive immune system in childhood IIMs. Circulating T-fol...
متن کاملInflammatory myopathies in a patient with Darier\'s disease, a possible association
Background: Darier disease (DD) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder which develops from a mutation in the ATP2A2 gene. Inflammatory myopathies (IM) are the largest group of potentially treatable myopathies. In this case, we report development of IM in a patient with DD for the second time in the literature. Case presentation: The patient is a 59-year-old female, a known case of DD,...
